Just My Type!

Just wanted to show-off my latest antique find!...I'm so excited! :)

Its an American Underwood typewriter from around the 1920's.

Bought for just £10 from one of my local buying haunts.

In full working order...Although I may treat it to a new ink ribbon (which will probably be more expensive than the machine itself! ;-))

At the moment it sits on a chest of drawers in our living room...Its so tempting to type a quick message each time we pass it by...
But it will have another use later this year...
To be continued! ;-))

  2. Oh wow that is beautiful, you really got a bargain there. Like Shingle Cottage above I keep trying to bid on a vintage typewriter but they always go above my budget. I'm still in hope I'll get one eventually. It looks lovely on your white chest of drawers. My more elderly aunts can't believe I'm hankering after something they couldn't wait to get rid of.

  3. Underwood typewriters, yes, I remember them. Your typewriter is beautiful, and it looks so pretty on your table with the other things.

  4. What a beautiful old typewriter - it looks in lovely condition. Sadly, I'm old enough to remember Underwood typewriters though not old enough to have used one. I've been on the lookout for an old typewriter for sometime. It was a bargain - I've just seen one on ebay, with a little side table - at $700! Yours looks perfect displayed on your chest of drawers. 5. OMG It's too glorious for words. My dad used to type television scripts on one of those and I don't know what happened to it, but I really wish I did.I bought an old one from a carboot but it doesn't actually type but makes a good prop in the shop.I also so know what you are going to use it for.(I saw it in Mollie makes....)

  6. My Mum used to use one of those when she worked for Admiralty! We haven't been visiting because we have been away and then encumbered with extra work that going on holiday entails. Lovely to be back. Love Helen, Darcy and Bingley xxx

  7. I have an old Imperial one in the loft, not quite as old or as beautiful as yours though.
You certainly need a lot more pressure to operate the keys than on modern keyboards.
